The New ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Movie Just Leaked Online — Six Months Before Release

The upcoming animated film Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender has apparently leaked online, months ahead of its planned October debut on Paramount+.

On Saturday, an X user claimed that Nickelodeon “accidentally emailed” them the entire film, then posted multiple clips as proof. The footage — which many initially dismissed as AI-generated — went massively viral, racking up over 100,000 likes before Paramount issued copyright takedowns. The posts now display a notice reading, “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.”

The clips reportedly show adult versions of Team Avatar meeting Tagah, a new character voiced by Dave Bautista, and a separate sequence set in the Spirit World. Reports suggest the leak may have originated from a hack rather than an actual accidental email, with a group called #PeggleCrew allegedly watermarking the footage. The user who posted the clips threatened to livestream the full movie if Paramount didn’t release a trailer soon.

The film is the first project from Avatar Studios, helmed by original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. It picks up with Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko as young adults. The voice cast includes Eric Nam as Aang, Steven Yeun as Zuko, Jessica Matten as Katara, Dionne Quan as Toph, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, and Bautista as the film’s antagonist. Taika Waititi, Freida Pinto, and Ke Huy Quan are also attached in undisclosed roles.

Fans have been frustrated with the project’s rollout. The film was originally planned for theatrical release, but Paramount moved it to streaming-only under new leadership — a decision that angered both fans and reportedly blindsided the filmmakers. No official trailer or promotional footage has been released, which likely amplified the leak’s reach.

Paramount has not publicly commented on the situation. Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender is still scheduled for Paramount+ on October 9.
